Custom Pet System
What they are
Necrotic Pets are undead combat companions players brew themselves in a house-placed cauldron, rather than tame in the wild. They're permanent, powerful, and cannot be lost to a bad fight .
How to make one — the Necromancy Cauldron
Place a cauldron in your house and feed it ingredients until it's ready to brew. There are three cauldron tiers, each producing a stronger pet:
Tier 1 Apprentice:
Alchemy required:100, Necromancy required: 80, Ingredients (all Necromancy Reagents): 50 each, Required Corrupted Essence: 10, 2 hour brew time, Creature Creatred: Necrotic Thrall
Tier 2 Journeyman:
Alchemy required:110, Necromancy required: 100, Ingredients (all Necromancy Reagents): 150 each, Required Corrupted Essence: 25, 3 hour brew time, Creature Creatred: Corrupted Revenant
Tier 3 Master:
Alchemy required:120, Necromancy required: 150, Ingredients (all Necromancy Reagents): 300 each, Required Corrupted Essence: 50, 5 hour brew time, Creature Creatred: Abyssal Harbinger
The Corrupted Essence is the appearance ingredient — it must all come from the same creature type, and whatever monster it was harvested from becomes your pet's look and name ("Origin"). This is the pet customization hook: farm essence off a specific monster you like the look of, and your Necrotic Pet will resemble it.
Once the ingredient counts are met, the cauldron starts brewing automatically. Return after the timer to claim your pet — it spawns already bonded to you.
Pet stats by tier
Tier\HP\Str\Dex&Int\Damage\Physical Resist\Combat Skills Cap
1 — Necrotic Thrall: 1,500–2,500\400–550\150–200\18–26\40–50\105.0
2 — Corrupted Revenant: 4,500–6,000\900–1,200\220–300\32–46\55–65\110.0
3 — Abyssal Harbinger: 9,000–11,000\1,500–2,000\300–400\50–70\70–80\120.0
Necrotic Pets automatically shift their weapon skill (Swords/Fencing/Macing/Wrestling) to match whatever weapon you equip on them, so you can re-gear them without losing effectiveness.
Why they're low-risk to own
A few mechanics make these different from a normal tamed pet:
-
They can't die permanently. They're bonded from the moment they're created, so "death" just puts them into the same ghost state as any bonded pet — no corpse, no lost gear, no lost pet. A regular Bandage resurrects them like normal.
-
They self-heal. Every Necrotic Pet runs an autonomous healing timer that checks its backpack every 4 seconds. If it's carrying a Necrotic Pet Bandage (an infinite-use item that never gets consumed), it heals itself for 3% of its max HP per tick with no player action required. Without one, it'll fall back to using regular Bandages from its pack (consumed normally, healing scaled to your Veterinary skill).
-
Loyalty never decays. Unlike a normal tamed pet, loyalty is frozen at maximum, so it will never randomly go wild on you.
-
They're completely PvP-immune — they can't be attacked by other players or players' pets, and they can never be made to attack a player, even accidentally. They're a PvE-only companion by design.
Storage — Book of Pet Summoning
Since Necrotic Pets take up a follower slot like any pet, a Book of Pet Summoning lets you store up to 10 of them inside a single blessed book. Double-click to open it, "Store Pet" and target a Necrotic Pet to internalize it (its gear stays equipped, just out of the world), then summon any of them back with one click when you want them out. There's also a permanent "Release" option if you want to retire one for good — it asks for confirmation first since it can't be undone.
Getting a stranded pet back — Charon, the Pet Retriever
If you die mid-fight and your Necrotic Pet gets left behind somewhere inconvenient, an NPC named Charon (found in-world, marked "the Pet Retriever") will recall it to you for a fee:
-
Retrieve one selected pet: 25,000 gold
-
Retrieve all of your Necrotic Pets at once: 50,000 gold flat, regardless of how many you have
Payment is pulled automatically from your Master Looter gold ledger first, falling back to your bank if you don't have enough banked there.
